FUCK YEAH
Of all the things I expect to find on this site, this was not one of them. Rationality Rules did a pretty good breakdown on transgenders competing with biological women. Here is the link:
;Stupid as FUCK.
the crazy thing is.. the transgender athlete was getting rocked in the stand up too lol. Like how bad do you have to be to lose the boxing part of the fight, when you were born a dude.
She's also SF.
more and more I feel myself desensitised to shit like this
my first reaction just now was: oh, again? who cares
Shit like this is why the Taliban has a point.
The 2020/1 Tokyo Olympics were the first Olympics to really feature openly transgender or nonbinary people. The IOC has regulations on the maximum amount of testosterone that a transgender woman can have before competing in a women's event. That standard is currently 10 nanomoles of testosterone per liter of blood. World Athletics have put out similar regulations that mandate 5 nanomoles / liter or less, but that is measured using mass spectrometry, which is more sensitive than the immunoassay used by the IOC, so the standards are less disparate than they might initially appear.
Putting that arcane blood test stuff to the side, I think it's perfectly reasonable to allow transgender women and nonbinary people to compete in the sports of their choosing provided that they abide by certain biomarkers that level the playing field with their competitors. That would avoid the obvious abuses that are in the South Park tape while also allowing people to fairly compete in a division of their choosing. The Tokyo Olympics went off without a hitch, and I anticipate that World Championships and the Olympics will be well equipped to deal with people with all sorts of different identities. Hopefully this satisfies your curiosity on the MMA fighter.
Bone on bone contact is usually superior for males or those who ‘used to be males’. Maybe competitive sports have bio markers, but MMA is more advantageous to those who built up their body as a male.
Thanks so much for your response. The closest analogue for MMA in the Olympics is Judo, which is nowhere near as vicious as MMA is. There haven't been any transgender women or nonbinary people who have competed in Olympic Judo to my knowledge. The beautiful thing about all of this is that we're only in the first Olympics, and there's likely to be so much more that we understand just a few years from now. I'm not saying a testosterone blood test is the end-all, be-all; I think we have a long way to go, but 15 years from now, we're going to have much more robust systems that are much better at creating a fair, inclusive competition.
I find it crazy that people think this is OK. If you want to go on hormone treatment, wear different clothes, etc fine idgaf. You do you. But I think these people should accept they cannot compete in high level sports under their new identity because it's unfair. It's a small thing to ensure competitive integrity. Why are we sacrificing ANY competitive integrity for 'inclusiveness' of this tiny subset?
Absolutely abomination, if you want to make whatever bs with your life is up to you but in the moment of choosing to depriving women of their rights to compete and achieve success in their competitions in equally of conditions you're just a piece of shit no matter how many retardeds full of shit support your "rights".I only could respect such a person if competes against another man( like a very famous fighter in Thailand) or in a division of people like him ( which would be actually the right thing to do) so any bs commentaries about whatever phobic speech can suck it up and fuck off... Btw there have been professional female experienced fighters who have suffered severe injuries from such fights, who defends their rights??
