At what age you got into Investment Banking?

Alright so let's put this into context: I'm 22 years old, i've graduated from a top 200 University, i had a couple of internships, one was with top 10 consultancy firm think (Grant Thornton - BDO...) it was an IB internship (modelling, valuations..) i had a 3+ GPA. I'm currently in the Middle East, i was thinking of doing an MFin to bring my gpa to 4 thinking that maybe it'll help me pass the first screening. To summarize i just want to put up a timeline to see the whole picture of getting into IB

If you have any advice or opinions i will be most thankful!

Sorry for that, i should've put no name university lol that's what our fellow monkeys here are used to.

Thanks though for the info, appreciate it !

just want to highlight that ive recieved monkey shit for stating my age and my rank.

jealousy is well and alive on this forum and i hope the best for those bitter bitter people.

What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent feat. Nickelback.

Age really should not be considered at all. You will find 20 year olds in this industry who act like 40 year olds and 40 year olds who act like they are 20. Focus more on what type of people you want to work with and go for it. Your timeline should only be determined by what you want to do and what you are capable of achieving in that time-frame.

Good Luck!

You’re not doing yourself any favor using top XXX university and consultancy. At that level people have either heard of your university / consultancy and have an opinion about it (can be good or bad) or they haven’t and will seriously question your source for the top XXX ranking (and will then wonder what else about your self description is made up or exaggerated).

For example, calling your internship consultancy top 10 is quite a big stretch by the examples you gave. Typically you have MBB, ~4-5 tier 2 firms, and then the big 4 consulting arms.

The firms that you mentioned are not part of any of these groups

I think you misunderstood me, The MBB are strictly consulting, i'm talking about those that offer a wide range of services such as the big 4 and the rest. Here is a ranking list that includes the company that i worked for. http://www.upslide.net/blog/most-influential-accounting-firms-in-the-wo…

you could as well find it on forbes too. in what concerns the top 200 thing, it is on my university website so that is why i said it.

What i wanted from this post is that, i'm considering a masters, i believe that if i complete it i'll be 25 years old and if that is too old for an analyst position at IB.

The article you linked is titled "The 9 Most Influential Accounting Firms in the World". You should therefore probably say that you did an internship with an accounting firm rather than a consultancy.

But to answer your question: 25 years is nowhere near the age where you are considered too old for IB. Especially if you are joining in a region where Masters are more common (e.g. Central Europe), plenty of people are starting at around that age.
