BCG New York vs Chicago office for life sciences
Can anyone share input about difference between BCG's NYC and Chicago offices? Specifically for life sciences/pharma/healthcare industry work. Thanks!
It mirrors industries in areas. Across all consulting firms pretty much, New York will have a lot more healthcare work since it is NE region. WC is probably even better due to concentration of pharma. Chicago won't have anything really, It's much bigger for consumer / industrials. Ask people in interviews for firm-specific responses.
Center of gravity in pharma, biotech is east coast Boston to Philly, so lots more traveling out of Chicago. In general you travel much more out of mid-west. Some pharma and PBMs is Chicago-land but not so much.
West coast is not as big a consulting market in pharma as you would think. Earlier stage for a burning through cash don't tend to hire MBB so much.
