Best Excel Financial Modeling Prep

Hey guys,

I'm an incoming i-banking analyst, starting training this summer.

I'm looking to spend my final few months at school taking a course in Financial Modeling on Excel. The goal is to be very proficient in Excel and in Modeling by my start date. Can anyone recommend a good course or certification? Is there a course that is known to be the "best" for these goals?

Thanks in advance for all the help! Really appreciate it.

I've never done a course, but Simon Benninga's book, "Financial Modeling" is what you should be reading. Also, look through @"Aswath Damodaran"'s posts on here and the extensive materials he has online.

has anyone tried just using Damodaran's videos online? Starting FT soon and it sounds like a pretty good way to learn/brush up. FT for AM, not IB.

I'm going through the Wall Street Prep Premium package right now and I'd say it's quite good. Very extensive materials and it doesn't just teach you about Excel but also gives you a foundation in valuations, comparables analysis, etc. Quite extensive materials and teaches you different kinds of models.

What I'm wondering however is how useful are the specialist modelling courses, such as either BIWS's or Wall Street Prep's Oil & Gas modelling course? Or advanced LBO modelling? Do they add much to the more generalist ones or is it largely a rehash of already learned materials?
