Glocap, Oxbridge, SG Partners, and CPI for buy-side assuming you're U.S.-based.

These firms are pretty strict about only paying attention to those who work at a bulge bracket bank and (usually) those who came from a target school. If you have these qualifications it's likely you'll be contacted without having to put in any direct effort to get their attention.

The best headhunters are your natural network. Other than that i've had success with Dynamics and if you want to interview at Point72, Vettery / GoBuyside are decent. The most important thing is to crush / get invited back to a 2nd round in the first interview you get from a Dynamics. There are tons of spots that they recruit for that don't get blasted out. After doing my 1st interview and getting an invite back, DSP was calling me 3-4 a week with opps to interview at certain HFs. I'm not making that statement to be like "oh look at me - I'm sweet" (I wasn't) but more so to encourage you to take a serious look at your first interview because ultimately if you can show you are a viable candidate and been validated during the interview process, they will keep showing you opportunities because they ultimately want to place you / get paid. If you keep getting dinged early, you probably wont see many opportunities from that recruiter.

Agreed to all of the above - I have had a good experience with Dynamics in giving me looks for HFs. Also echo JackandDaniels that nailing your first interview / "chat" with Dynamics is crucial. They tend to ask more market-related questions as opposed to deal-related questions.

Ken Murray would straight up email me at work with: "hey can you send me your most up-to-date resume as soon as possible," ... i recieved that email in the first month working at my current firm...

Guys this thread has been incredible, thank you for sharing. Here are some things I have done to accelerate the process when I am ready to transition to long/short equity: 1) go on Linkedin and add all the recruitiers from the following firms: Firms: vetery, gobuyside, SearchOne, dynamics, CPI, Friedman and company, 2) download the list of top firms from the www.hfalert.com website to make sure I have a list to go with since my plan is to cold email the general HR website when I'm ready to move over. 3) reach out to my clients or close counterparts on buy side to help my transition (i would recommend you target the bigger firms since these guys tend to know more people) 4) prepare to have a very tough meeting with your boss fi you are exiting early since your boss is relaying on you to be around. 5) Probably meeting with a professional resume consultant since I am currently in this industry at a BB but think it would be smart to get some insight on how the industry percieves my background (so i can manuever in interviews)

Any other adds or suggestions?
