Best M&A Tax books

For someone with an Econ and Philosophy degree what would be a good tax book to pick up for private equity? I saw recently on WSP that tax treatment of the financing fees had changed on the LBO model. I'm looking to get better at building DTL, DTAs, and the PPA entry.

Very sexy I know

Yo tax lawyer here,

If you want to develop a very very basic understanding of M&A tax I would recommend picking up Schwarz and Lathrope's Black Letter Outline on Corporate Taxation and skimming through taxable acquisitions & tax-free reorganizations.

Lemme know if you want to discuss further.

I love being a tax attorney. There's quite a learning curve at first, but once you get the hang of it I think it's the most consistently interesting practice group.

I think restructuring work is pretty cool, but all the other corporate groups are pretty awful until the partner level.

There are more mega rainmakers in M&A/Securities, but it would be stupid to choose a career path based solely on maximum upside. I think the average tax attorney is pretty well compensated. Big4/government/in-house jobs for tax attorneys pay pretty well.
