Best MBA Summer Internship for Full-Time IBD Associate recruiting.

Currently at a top 10 MBA program with no IBD summer offer. Is there any other summer internship that can give me a decent shot at FT IBD (BB/MM/Boutique) recruiting? Unfortunately MBB is off the table at this point.
With no previous finance experience, would a corp-fin internship at a top F500 firm help?

Thanks

May I ask why you were unable to land an IBD internship out of a top-10 MBA?

I am just guessing here, but I would think you face a very uphill battle. You could try to find a boutique to hire you for the summer, and hit the ground hard when you get back to school. You could also try for a F500 corporate development group (Not business development, you need deal experience).

Network, network, network and try to get a role as close to IBD as possible. Your best shot is probably trying to get an internship at a boutique. Their hiring needs happen quickly since it is entirely based on deal flow so you need to be persistent and consistent. You could also look at corporate or commercial banking opportunities but that is further removed from IBD. Still interview with F500 Corp fin, as psychologically you'll just feel better with a back up in your pocket but it's not the best internship if you want to do IB FT. When you get back in the fall follow up with the folks you met this recruiting season and just keep networking. Look everywhere and anywhere even different groups at the same BB may have completely different needs come your second year.

Sorry that happened to you and it really sucks, but you need to keep grinding. PM if you want to discuss further.

Some additional details: I come from a start-up background and didn't have a high GMAT or MBA GPA. In addition I felt that the lack of finance experience was leading the bankers to question why I would be a good fit for IB and as a result decided to not apply for any IB jobs at all. Most of my buddies that stayed in the process ended up getting offers.

Yeah... I find that people my age are very superficial for the most part... All they think about is drinking partying and all around not doing shit. Not ambitious in general... I am.

Yea but being cool is important at 17, not lurking some forum about a job that you might not even still be interested in 5 years from now.
