Career Resources
For Tech, MS/GS/Qatalyst on the west coast. Think MS east coast is solid as well, maybe CS too on both coasts.
For Media/Telecom, GS TMT, MS M&T, PJT (?), JPM M&T, Moelis LA (?)
To add, idk how deal flow is, but I think Evercore and Lazard TMT in NY also place well.
Lazard NYC based TMT moved, almost entirely, to PWP about two years ago. They are still rebuilding since then and have not done a great job so far.
But Evercore and PWP should be added.
Would add Guggenheim media/telecom to this list as well
Are there any other big deals they've worked on besides the Disney Fox one? Just generally curious
They were also on the Discovery acquisition of Scripps last summer. I know the analyst who was on that deal.
Reuters Blackstone
What about TMT in London? I heard that Credit Suisse has a good deal flow as well.
UBS (TMT) and MS (Tech and Media&Telecoms) are solid
Obviously Goldman is always a good choice. I would look at Credit Suisse also.
.
How does this play out in SF?
How is Barclays, DB, UBS, Credit Suisse, BAML?
Barclays TMT isn't very good. CS TMT is great! I haven't heard of BAML TMT
Just from networking with others, I gathered that Moelis LA is one of the strongest on the entire west coast. Credit Suisse in San Francisco has had a ton of talent leave and they are more in the rebuilding stage, but CS LA is pretty strong. Goldman and MS are super strong in TMT on both the East and West coasts. Have heard that Barclays and DB tech does not have great exit opps (DB is one of the weaker banks in M&A advisory in software and internet and focuses on semi-conductors.) I have a friend who went to my school worked at BAML tech and now he's in a solid PE shop. He said they have a really strong presence in software. Not sure if he just happened to place well or if the other analysts placed well also.
For boutiques, I have heard that Lazard tech is pretty weak and Evercore's tech platform is strong and getting stronger. Qatalyst is very strong in tech. Greenhill in San Francisco places very well.
And don't forget Allen&Co for Media in New York.
Can you rank the top Media & Comms (TMT) Groups in New York. (Originally Posted: 12/26/2017)
I am an MBA student who will begin interviewing soon. In order to have an understanding of what I will do when the time comes, can you please rank the top Media & Comms (TMT) groups in New York. If you can please hightlight the difference in prestige, exit opps, and pay. Also, would you be crazy to turn down Goldman if given the offer?
Hey dcwallstreet24, I'm here to break the silence...any of these links help you?:
