Blackrock Finacial Market Advisory
Does anyone have experience with the Blackrock FMA division? Would you recommend it over classic AM at Blackrock or any other large AM?

Hey dino46, I think you deserve a response...heck, everyone does. We're listening, sorry about the delay ...my best guess at places on WSO that could help:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Interested in this too, in a similar situation! Not a lot about this group online.
Good question. FMA is more similar to consulting / banking than to asset mgmt.
The team advises other financial institutions (mostly banks and central banks) on operational, transaction related, regulatory and other functional services. Think like bank stress testing. This is quite different than BLK's main function, which is to manage money on behalf of clients in different types of funds.
FMA is a strong group that will give you a skill-set that can convert to IB, consulting, or traditional AM. Its a well respected team across the globe. The current head used to be the head of the Swiss national bank. One of the former top guys is now one of Steve Mnuchin's top advisers.
Downside is hours and culture (and interviews) are more akin to ibanking...
