Supposedly today analysts and associates are being massacred across IBD. Anyone have any insight as to the percentage across groups?

Haven't heard from him yet, but a buddy of mine (1st year analyst - FIG) said he was gonna get the boot today. He also said to save a spot for him on our spring break trip lol.

food for though - does this mean, if laid off analysts/associates somehow find another analyst/associate position, are they placed in the same year? or are they downgraded?
