Business Sense exercices

Hi all!

I'm starting to interview for several PE funds, and I'd like to be prepared as much as I can. I've done countless paper LBOs and real lbo models (within a 1h timeframe), but I know there's one thing I haven't practiced yet: my business sense.

It's very likely that I'll get to discuss about a company during a case study, and will need to give pros and cons for the investment, answer "business type questions" around ways to improve margins, fixed costs vs cogs, etc. I couldn't find anything on this, does anyone have examples of that kind of questions, or typical things to look at / understand in a company ?

Any input is welcomed :)

Thanks!

Hello Akloster,

I second 'negative basis', consulting cases will be of most assistance here.

I would focus on; M&A cases, profitability improvement cases and business growth cases in that order.
