Call from Group Head out of the blue, before interviews
Ok, last post from me!
I received a call out of the blue from the equity derivatives desk for a bank that I have not interviewed with (in fact, I just talked to HR and they said they have not scheduled me for interviews yet and they haven't even created their resume book).
He called me from some 5 digit number and asked to talk to me about what they do and my interests.
This is after I applied for a S&T SA position at X bank.
What exactly is this call for? Is this my first round interview? He said the call would only take a few minutes.
Anyone got anything similar out of the blue like this? What should I expect?

I haven't had this happen to me before, but it could be a good sign. The head looked through your resume and saw something that probably interested him, so he wanted to probably give you an informational on what they do. This can be good because I know some companies will preselect people and try to help guide them through the process.

it's a great sign, make sure u kiss lots of ass beforehand. helps mucho
