Can ambition be built?

Been doing some reflecting and don't feel as if I'm pushing myself nearly enough compared to others I've graduated with in finance. Parents are not ambitious in the slightest (still love them to death, no judgement) so anything I've accomplished so far has been of my own. My question is, can ambition be built up or is it just merely inherent in one's own life/upbringing? Any tips y'all can share would be appreciated if you've had similar experiences when first starting out.

Really wasn't meant to be used as a cause man, just was reading about the backgrounds post and hadn't shared there but was thinking about it at the time.

I get riled up. All I'm saying is that talking about your parents and their ambition levels comes off like an excuse. You could have no parents or the most successful parents in the world. Regardless, you are a grown ass man with a heart and a mind and workings hands and feet and you should build your own life.
