Cancelling networking call
What's the best way to go about cancelling a networking call? I got a call this morning about an offer from another firm that I am going to accept, so I don't need to network with the person I had a call planned for tonight. Is it rude to cancel the same day?
Why not just jump on the call, you can never have too many connections. Ask the person if they have any advice to hit the ground running or things related to working in the industry. Don't run the chance of ruining a relationship before it even starts, especially when it will only take ~15 minutes of your time.
Yeah, I can't see how that is awkward. Maybe just don't mention your offer and proceed with the call as if you didn't have an offer.
I always approach these in an honest way. I would say to them that you are unfortunately unable to attend the call. No need to go into too much detail about it.
