Career advice - looking for finance internship

I have finished my bachelors in finance and minored in statistics in may 2007, it just so happened that I didn't get a job in finance after I graduated for several reasons. I did get laid off my job so I would like to pursue my career in finance now, being it 2 years that I graduated from college what would be the best way to do so? I understand that I have to start out on the bottom, so I was thinking of getting an internship? If so, what would be the best way to go about finding some internships in fiance? Thank you

I had a full time job during college that I needed to maintain in order to pay for my tuition and also have medical benefits, so I couldn't intern during school. Right when I graduated, I couldn't get a job right away so I started another job that paid well because still have to pay the rent and other bills, it is very hard to just sit around look for perfect job when you have rent and other bills to pay. So what would be the best thing to do at this point?

I don't know if you've considered grad school to any extent, but that might be a good option. You could look into an MSF or MBA, with the MSF giving you a solid finance focus, which may show potential employers you're serious about wanting to go into finance after being out of the industry.

After College I was working as a sales manager for a TV company, not finance related, but the money was great, and I pad off the remainder of my school loan with it and now I am debt free. So it served its purpose. As I said, its a whole different ball game when you got bills to pay including rent. Cant take a non paying internship then. As far as grad school I was considering it, but I would like to hopefully get a job that will help me with paying for some of it. I can definitely get a job now to pay bill's , but I would like to do what I am passionate about - working at a financial institution, even if its for a little salary, I just want to get my foot in the door.

I am sure there are people in my shoes as well, or who have been, or professionals on here who can give me advice with some merit. I am also in NYC which is a great market for finance jobs. I look on craigslist, career builder, where else would be a great place for finance jobs/internships?

Ok, well, I'm a class of 2007 grad too like yourself. The entry-level positions/internships will be hard for you to obtain without connections. Without finance-related experience, it will be really hard for you to get a position at even smaller boutique banks. My advice is to network, network and network more, with alumni, friends, family etc You can look at job listings on sites like Doostang (paid), efinancialcareers, LinkedIn, Seeking Alpha and Monster.
