Career prospect in a PE platform company

Hi all,

I am currently in a mm M&A bank with 4 years experience.

Interviewed with a mid tier PE company recently looking to hire and place an associate to one of its platform company.

The job would be to lead acquisition efforts (due di/ valuation/ prep of IM) of 4-5 bolt on investments (c.$20m ea) in the first phase, drive integration in the second phase and assist in the sales process in the third phase over a 5-6 years period.

The problem is that the job sits within the portfolio company and not on the PE team itself which means career progression will not be in the PE team itself. At the end of the 5-6 years period, I may potentially be out of a job.

Good points to this deal is the holistic experience ranging from acquisition to integration and sales of the platform business. It gives in-depth exposure in the industry sector of the platform company and platform strategy used by PE firms these days.

Would like to hear your thoughts on such an opportunity and whether it is worth taking it further.

Also what are my career opportunities once this gig is up after 6 years.

Your thoughts and advice is much appreciated.

Thanks!
