Closed During PE Associate Stint
Curious as to what is the typical number of deals that a PE associate closes during his/her 2-3 year stint. Understood a number of factors come into play like how many associates the fund has, size of fund, fund deployment velocity, fund’s ability to win deals, etc. Heard of associates closing more than a handful on one spectrum and have heard of some going through their whole 2-3 year stint and not closing a single deal. Would love to get any thoughts/numbers folks are comfortable sharing.

At the same LMM firm where I started as associate. I did two platform deals and a transformative add-on. There were past associates who did between 0-1 deals in their stints. You don't really have control over what deals close as a junior PE guy so it's largely luck. It does help if you produce good work so partners staff you on higher probability opportunities.
Agreed with above, in that I hear 1-2 platforms if you're lucky over the course of 2-3 years. I certainly know people who did not close any, but as StrategyJunkie said, this is generally a matter of luck to a high degree.
1-3 platforms / yr.; 3-5 add-ons / yr.

0-1 per Associate stint (more Associates in a cohort than typical number of deals done per year)
LMM - would probably say 1-2 platforms and 3-6 add-ons from start to finish over the 2-3 years stint. But all depends on random staffing and availability
