College student looking for advice
I am a non-target in a large metropolitan area (lots of boutiques), and I'm looking for some work-experience advice. Is it possible to obtain an IB internship in the fall or spring semester? If so, how should I position myself to land a fall or spring internship? ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I am willing to merely staple paper or file folders for the IB! I want some sort of work experience.
A lot of boutiques hire on Fall/Spring interns - its not uncommon at all. Just read up on here of how to position yourself to get the job, and be sure you show them how hungry you are.
Best thing to do now is to just start cold-calling and learning.
Just my opinion, there could be better. Good luck!
Have to start cold calling/emailing and see if shops have openings. I would assume someone may take you on 10-15 hours a week if they feel you could contribute. When making your first contact, I would also mention that pay is not an issue, even if it is.
What's your class level? Anyway, it shouldn't be too difficult provided, like another poster said, you could tell them how you can contribute.
Doing one right now. Fall semester, full time though. Taking the semester off. But, they hire at least one intern per semester. Top students only though...(I'm probably the least qualified lol)
I really couldn't initially contribute anything extremely useful to the ib (that's why it's a bit awkward). Though I could do menial tasks (copying, filing, etc.) lol. I haven't learned modeling, yet.
Start doing some heavy work now and learn at least the basics of modeling. If you can show them that you've started learning on your own and you're trying to learn everything you can - they will be much more likely to hire you.
