Combined degree Eng and Finance
Hi everyone,
Currently attending Ivey in Canada. I have plans to finish my concurrent program with finance and engineering. Recently I am debating on just going with finance.
This is a 5 year program, going into 3rd year. with 2 previous research positions, non-finance related.
However, I've heard that chances for a good internship in ibanking/consulting are not great in the summer after 3th year going into 4th. Because I won't be graduating the next year, (graduating after 5th).
I don't want to use my business degree as a background for engineering. I would like to use my engineering background as a indicator of good technical skills in finance. I would like your advice on helping me weigh my options of going single or dual degree.
What are your views from the industry/other schools?
FWIW, a lot of engineers spend a few years in industry, go back for an MFE or MBA, and then spend their lives in Finance. CC: Neel Kashkari.
Hui?
Business grads are a dime a dozen, as are engineers. The two complement each other well and very few people have both skillsets. If you can get a 2nd professional degree with one extra year of schooling I would do it.
