Compensation

I am expecting an offer from a top equity research boutique in London for a summer internship. Is it acceptable to ask what the compensation is going to be if I receive the offer? Money isn't the number one factor but of course it is a factor, need to be able to afford a nice place to live etc.

The compensation should be stated in the offer letter you receive. I would wait til you see that before asking anything. If it isn't listed there then I would ask HR or who ever it is you're speaking with. Also, not sure if this pertains to you, but if you're studying abroad in London from the US and require a visa, then the law prohibits you from making anything. When I had my first internship in London I essentially worked for nothing as I legally could not make anything.

Interesting... I studied in the UK in 07-08 and I worked all summer in London for a large AM firm. I got paid.
