Confused about semitarget Masters in fianance UK

Hi there,

Currently, I have two offers one at Cass and other at Durham.

The atmosphere tells me to go Cass although, academically Durham may be better right? and is 15K less.

Also, I do not know about Durham city.

Exeter, StAndrews ,Edinburgh have offered me, but Cass and Durham seem above by what I read, noticing that all unis are semitargets.

In any case, both are fine to end up working on IB at the city?

The problem I see with Cass is that there a couple better unis in the same location. Weakening my CV.

Such as: LSE,UCL, Imperial and KCL.

Hey man, I did a postgrad degree at Durham University. Honestly, I need to know more about your profile. While Durham University is a great University, i'm not really sure what you are looking for.

Academically I don't really know anything about the finance program but I do know 2 people who did graduate from it. One was from a ME country and had maybe less than 2 years work experience not directly related to the investment industry, managed to land a job as an analyst at a start-up hedge fund I think? either way he was happy with what he landed.

Second one, was a domestic student with a bachelor in mathematical finance. Ended up as a financial analyst at some firm in Newcastle. He didn't want to go to London because he doesn't like that life style.

Durham is a great University for networking and rounding yourself as an applicant since there are a lot of clubs/sports & other activities you can attend. Plenty of social and finance-related student clubs. Some firms come over and host dinners/drinks but they're mostly aimed towards undergrad (I think? never attended).

Heads up though, plenty of your cohort will be from China which could can be a bit of a hassle in terms of socializing.
