Corp Dev / Strategy scene in London

Hey all

Any insight on the corp dev scene in London ?

1) How big is it ? Are there plenty of F100 opportunities ? What about the F500 ones ? 2) Is moving from IBD 3rd year Associate/1st year VP a common path in London ? 3) Is moving to a corp strategy role possible after an associate stint ? 4) What about compensation and lifestyle ?

I see a lot of resources on the American market but barely anything on UK. Let's get this going.

"Pan European Monkey" 1) it will be mostly UK companies 2) well yes its called a promotion. Most people that stick around and are decent enough make VP 3) yes 4) less hours worse comp than in IB. Comp varies depending on the industry and level you enter at.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

For 1) Won't most of the top F100 firms be having London offices ?

I don't think you understood me for point 2). Let me rephrase. Is a 3rd year Associate or a 1st year VP in a good position to jump on the corp dev roles ?

For 4) - What would be a pay cut moving from 3rd year Associate to a similar or higher role in Corp Dev ?

1) some do some don't but most CorpDev teams sit in the Global corporate HQ. You may have 1 regional corp dev director or something. 2)Most people leave earlier, but as long as you have a good story as to why tou want to jump you should be ok. 4)Varies depending on the industry you're getting into - canno't comment specifically on different industries but this is what I've heard. Tech/Luxury pays the most traditionally.
