Covering the Financials Sector

Does anyone here cover the Financial Services sector in research? If so, how do you like it?

It seems as though it would require skills/knowledge that are fairly unique and not quite transferable to other sectors. Would you say this is the case? If you take a job covering Financials are you likely stuck with that sector for good?

Long-story short, def try to cover things in addition to financials. Also cover EBITDA and FCF driven businesses. If you can do both (first hand experience) you are uniquely positioned to exploit opportunities as they come up regardless of origin if you are on the buyside.

What kind of financials will you be covering?

There are some sectors of "financials" that are valued through EBITDA and FCF. Although if you are just covering stuff like insurance and banks, then I think your concern is pretty valid.
