CPPIB Progression levels
Hi everyone,
Based on my research CPP IB progression is looking as follows.. but not totally sure.
Based on this, is Principal the equivalent to VP in most other organizations, and Senior Principal=Director?
Analyst
Associate
Senior Associate
Principal (= VP?)
Senior Principal (= Director?)
Managing Director
Would love to get some clarity on this from someone that knows / on the inside.
Hey techmonkey11, I swear if I had a silver banana for every lonely thread I posted too I'd be richer than @compbanker ...
More suggestions...
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
this is accurate
This used to be correct but is out of date by a few months (see the edit below):
Analyst
Associate
Senior Associate
Principal
Senior Principal --> MD
Managing Director --> Senior MD
Does this mean Senior Associate = VP and Principal = Director?
And is this adjustment reflected in people's titles? Why was it changed?
Think it was changed after they looked at the market and took the internal belief that the new titles were more in alignment with their peers.
People's titles should have changed by now to reflect this change.
Hard to really peg to those titles, would say that Senior Associate is somewhere between Senior Associate and VP and Principal is somewhere between Principal and Director.
Honestly, it doesn't really matter since this shop doesn't source any deals - they are lucky to have endless capital and can have groups like KKR, Blackstone, and TPG contact them for co-invests at a moment's notice.
The team isn't the highest quality and they've had significant issues with turnover. Very beurocratic.
Thanks for your insights. Would you mind elaborating a bit on the beurocratic piece?
