Crazy Hyper-Local Foods?
OK, what have we never heard of that is a thing near you. I'd say Taylor ham, but that's an easy NJ answer. I told a former coworker that her only drink options at Katz were the Dr Brown's Black Cherry or Cel-Ray sodas. I'll bet most monkeys haven't even heard of them. What's the thing by you?
If you talk about Pork Roll, call it Pork Roll... none of this Taylor Ham shit.
OK South Jersey. Also, how did this get on Crypto? i swear this forum is just messing things up, this was posted on off-topic.
I'm from North Jersey. I've never had a bite of Pork Roll in my life, but even I know that Trenton's favorite fake meat is called Pork Roll. You know the story of why it got the name Pork Roll? It's because Taylor's Processed Ham didn't meet the FDA's definition of Ham under the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906.
Now, Dr. Brown's - that's near and dear to my heart. That's about as traditional deli as a pint of Matzah Ball Soup.
Case's is mostly a south jersey thing (I lived there for a few years for work) Taylor Ham is much more northern. Now, what are your favorite Dr Brown's flavors. I'm generally black cherry and cream soda. Both diet because I really need less calories.
Yeah, I'm familiar with both. It's part of the reason I stick to calling it Pork Roll vs Taylor Ham. Easier to call it by the generic name as opposed to the branded, especially when you get into the Taylor vs Cases debate. As far as Dr. Brown's goes, I can only find four flavors anymore. Root Beer, Cream Soda, Black Cherry, and Cel-Ray are all that they make anymore. You want to talk Niche, that's niche. What I drink depends on what they have, but I'm not gonna turn an ice-cold Dr. Brown's soda down when I have a deli sandwich.
