Derrick Rose traded to Knicks

Derrick Rose was traded to the New York Knicks. The Knicks trade center Robin Lopez, guard Jose Calderon and guard Jerian Grant to Chicago, which shipped guard Justin Holiday, Rose and a 2017 second-round pick back to New York.

Knicks better make sure he passes a physical first...

Anyway, I'm lukewarm to the trade. On the one hand, this is a contract year for Rose and he has to play like his old MVP self if he doesn't want to get low-balled in free agency come summer 2017. The elephant in the room is obviously his health. If he misses less than 20 games this season, it'll be a minor miracle, never mind his production on the court. Also, there's the significant problem of both he and Melo being ball-dominant players. Should be an interesting experiment...

Fully agree. His health is the biggest obstacle to a successful season for the Knicks. I watched Rose a lot in the initial weeks of the past season and you can tell that he is scared when going to the basket.

It's certainly a risk, both letting him go and keeping him.

The guy is easily a top 15 player when healthy...and he was just beginning to come back into full form. I believe the Bulls were done risking having such an integral piece of their team perform well all season then suffer an injury before the playoffs.

If I had to predict, NY loses in the trade. I don't see Rose ever returning to his usual self. However, I most certainly do see Lopez contributing and being a good number 2 or 3 option to Jimmy Buckets.

Interesting. I've heard rumors that LeBron might opt out and leave Cleveland if he can play with his friends (CP3, Melo, and D-Wade). Looks like the Knicks are making the first move to assemble the next super team. Imagine a starting lineup w/ D-Rose, Melo, Lebron and either CP3 or D-Wade. It could be Brian Scalibrini playing the 5 w/ that squad and they would still be title favorites.

So Lebron is the only one on the court who can play D?

Glad that Chicago has shipped off Rose. Living here I've really gotten tired of him and his excuses.

For real? I must've missed that. I was still under the impression that he was contemplating to leave.

The question now is, will the Knicks be able to get Durant?

During his time at the Bulls with the injury, I don't see why the coaches was not able to put him into a role where D-Rose could still be a slasher to the basket, then dish it out to the open guy, maybe mixed in with an occasional dunk or a pull-up J. Not as explosive as before, but be pretty darn effective for his team.

I saw a post discussing how the Knicks could get Dwight Howard and Kevin Durant. The line up wouldn't be bad on paper. PG-Rose SG-Durant SF-Melo PF-Porzingis C-Howard

In reality, it would probably be like the 04 Lakers
