Do banks always notify students of their decisions?
I had a couple of first-round interviews on campus last week with two BBs and two boutiques. One BB sent me a rejection email the following day, but I still haven't heard back from the others... When I was interviewing for SA positions, I heard back right away about Superdays. I also sent emails thanking them after the interviews but didn't get responses from them :(
Bank expect you to telepathically know if you're through the next round/have the job. Sounds like you failed.
A lot of them (too many in my opinion) don't. A lot of times, you can send an email to an interviewer/head of recruiting head maybe a week after the interview and ask for an update. As far as thank you emails, a good 90% of the thank you emails I sent never got a response back.
If they want you for the next round, they'll definitely contact you. If they don't, then they may or may not give you a response back. But if it's been more than a few weeks/longer than their stated time they would get back to you, you can assume you've been dinged.
Still expecting my Goldman rejection from 2008.
haha i'm probably dinged by GS then, because it's been almost 4 days. one of the boutiques just called me up about the next step after a week!!
As the above posters said responses to thank you emails are hit and miss. It really is a crap shoot. I've received great responses from some of my worst interviewers and never heard a peep from the guys who could have been my best friend after 30 minutes.
I'd would estimate the the thank you email response rate is less than 25%.
If you are talking about first rounds OCR to final rounds I was told by a lot of places that it would take up to 2-3 weeks till they interviewed at a few other schools before letting me know one way or another. In fact, the only really quick responses I got were either rejections or places that had multiple rounds on campus.
