Domestic student MSF: chance me
so here's the deal: I went to a non-target (think Villanova, Fairfield, PSU, Sacred Heart)
majored in history, minored in economics and French. 3.4 GPA. In history honor society, got a diversity award, and leader of a startup political club. I was a trader for 7 months, and got the required license. 570 GMAT, 40V 30Q. Domestic student, and many schools are predominantly foreign students.
What kind of chances do I have at for 2015:
Duke/UVA MMS
WUSTL
Tulane
Boston College
Johns Hopkins
Rochester
Florida
Retake the GMAT. That is a really low quant score. Your verbal score is great btw. There are better people on the forum than me to chance you. Try and get a 650 next time and you should be good.
Well if you went to Villanova or PSU I would cheer up since Nova is a semi-target and I know a bunch of PSU alumni on the street.
As for the schools you listed, I would look at some other Masters in Management programs. The issue is this, you have a fine enough GPA, but the GMAT is very low. You also have a lower quant score which makes sense since you were a history grad.
Duke/UVA MMS - Maybe at Duke. No at UVA WUSTL - No Tulane - Good Chance Boston College - No Johns Hopkins - Good Chance Rochester - Good Chance Florida - They only accept UF undergrads now.
Add Wake Forest to your list. I think you'd stand a good chance getting in and they only admit non-business undergrads so everyone will be on an even playing field. You can check out Michigan also.
Not trying to dissuade you from an MSF program, just giving food for thought. I've seen people with a liberal arts background get into MSF programs and struggle with the material. I think the MMS would provide a great business experience and open up plenty of opportunities.
is Wake Forest an MMS or MSF? Also what about my chances at UIUC?
Wake is an MMS. UIUC - you will most likely get in. I know a domestic with a similar profile that was admitted.
