Early Career Switch from Commercial Law to Finance
Hi everyone,
By way of background I am a recent graduate of target UK university, having specialised in economic history. My career ambitions since the start of university have been geared towards commercial law, particularly Corporate M&A/Private Equity. Having recently undertaken a few internships at top commercial law firms in London, I am suddenly having some doubts about whether this is the correct career path for me.
The question I have is, have I left it too late to apply for off-cycle internships for FO positions ?
I do not have any experience in finance other than involvement in the university's finance society. I do, however, have a commercial background having won multiple business competitions, founded profitable business for 4+ years, and had experience at a law firms (think K&E, Latham and Watkins etc) within the M&A practice.
I do realise that others applying for these positions have more relevant experience, and hence I am trying to gauge whether it is realistic to potentially pursue this option.
Thank you very much!
