Early interviews - Full-time recruitment

Is it possible to get early interviews for full-time recruitment, say in mid-September? I really want to be able to interview before my summer offer (if i end up with one) expires; please share thoughts.

Usually your school will have a policy preventing firms from giving you an "exploding" offer, and will require them to extend the offer to a certain date, usually after interviews are over.

Not sure how it works in the US. But in London the other banks hold nights out at the end of the summer where other banks interns are invited.

It's quite easy to get an interview out of these events - you could almost say that its their sole intention of running the events;-)

So ring the HR departments after your internship ask about early bird recruitment.

I've heard of some rising juniors who are going to be studying abroad for their whole junior year contacting hr and getting accelerated interviews internships the following summer. I think that this is very limited and really only for top notch candidates.

So while I am still interning this summer should I be trying to contact other banks and ask them about interviews for full time? What should I say about my current position - I don't like the experience that I'm getting or what? What happens if I ultimately decide to go with my summer employer?

Also how do the companies usually lay out your offers at the end of the summer? Do they try to pressure you into accepting right away or do they give you some time to decide? If they make it exploding do you have to contact your career center and see what they can do?

Sorry for reviving this dead post, but I thought it would be better to breathe life back into this one than create a whole new post over the same topic.

I don't think anyone answered these questions very completely. Could someone attempt to fill in the obvious gaps in the story here? How does one go about getting "invitations" for accelereated interviews for full-time positions? How is it possible to network with other banks during your summer analyst program? Do people typically interview directly after the summer program? If I fly out of New York one day after my program ends, should I try and stay with a friend or will the firms interviewing me be willing to fly me back up for interviews?

I would really like to hear from people who weren't in minority placement programs or other special groups that have facilliated networking sessions with other banks as they have a totally different experience in this aspect of recruiting.

Thanks in advance.

I would imagine you would be at an advantage to people with no banking experience since you've sampled a professional environment for a given period of time and hopefully done a good job, but you'll have to have some strong reasons why you want to make the switch from S&T to IBD.
