ECM/DCM vs. Middle Office (Credit Risk, Market Risk)

I saw in many of the posts about how you don't get as much of credit exposure in ECM/DCM compared to traditional IBD, so poorer exit opportunities. If so, would it be better to go for positions in middle office? Or go for credit/market risk which tends to be easier and broader in scope?
Thanks!
