EDHEC vs ESCP MiM

Hi guys,

Hope you're doing well. I'm an engineering undergrad from India. I'm looking to go for an MiM in France (I have a diploma in French). I'm looking mainly at ESCP or EDHEC as options. I know that ESCP is ranked better and is situated in Paris for networking, but given that you have to study in different countries especially as an International Student, doesn't it put you at a disadvantage while building up your network?

Additionally EDHEC is in Lille which is WAY cheaper, in addition to providing people with a better shot at building a network(?) How should one arrive at the decision? I appreciate all the advice you guys have to offer.

Goal is to land in consulting, language shouldn't be an issue cause I'm halfway there already.

Thanks a ton!

I can tell you’re not French given that you’re asking this question. Rankings in France aren’t as fluid as in other countries and the hierarchy is very clear: ESCP>EDHEC, and it’s not close. ESCP is a target in France (albeit not really in London), while EDHEC isn’t (and isn’t one in London either). So your best bet is ESCP, which places much better in both finance and consulting. Additional considerations don’t matter because employers will always prefer someone from ESCP over someone from EDHEC. Also, there is no networking in France (and in Europe), so location doesn’t matter when applying to jobs

First of all, I have seen lots of ESCP graduates working in London so I don't agree with you that it is not a target in London. Definitely not better than HEC but people from there work in IB in London. Second of all in continental Europe networking really brings a difference to the table. Know people working in France who networked their way into IB but as everyone knows networking only gets you an interview and the rest is up to you.  I agree with your take ESCP > EDHEC anyday.

I see what you guys mean, and I appreciate it. Keeping EDHEC to a side for a moment, I'd like to ask you guys about the success international, non-EU students have finding opportunities in France/Other places. If we talk about the Tier 1 of French B schools, I know from my undergrad alumni network that HEC and ESSEC graduates find ops no problems. But I'm unable to find such data on ESCP, especially compared to the other 2 schools. This is the sole reason why I'm doubting the "highly international" model of ESCP. Would appreciate if you were to further on this.
