Excel- rolling date periods in Pivot Table
I have a body of financial data that is organized by dates. I normally look at the data by month, across a 100-month period
What if I wanted to be able to make a chart/pivot table where I click on a month and it automatically shows me the last month and the previous 23 months. So if I pick August 2013, the pivot table automatically knows to show me the data from August 2011 to August 2013. I don't want to see data before or after.
Can you post some sample data?
You could just have a data validation dropdown and vlookups
Have your years in 1 column and use the drop down to select the month, use VLOOKUP(or maybe sum product depending on how advanced your criteria is, and it can pull whatever you want from the given row.
