E&Y Cadetship worth doing?
I'm currently in the process of applying for an E&Y cadetship, and I want to know if anyone else believes it's a path I should go down?
About 3 weeks ago I completed my aptitude test for the Brisbane E&Y, and this week completed the Tax consulting challenge. If I passed the aptitude test, and then made it through the interview process, I would be offered a position to work full time at $38,000 a year for 4 years, while completing my dual degree. I would do 2 subjects a semester, which would give me a 60 hour work week, in a city I don't currently live in.
Does the benefit of 4 years full time work experience in Assurance outweigh the extra 2 years added to my degree? In the long term I eventually want to work in IB, PE or a HF if that helps.

EY, not E&Y. No one in Australia says Ernst and Young.
If you work in accounting based roles, you typically stay there. Yeah, you can transition into other paths like Corporate Finance or consulting, but generally ONLY a few (1 or 2) make it to IB/PE. You wouldn't find a big enough exposure for HF's in Australia.
If your end goal is Investment Banking, try doing more finance related courses.
PS. Having just read your other post, try doing an exchange at some overseas uni and leverage that experience to an internship or graduate role. Masters will render you useless (unless Quant), so Honours would be more suitable. (If you do want to do masters, do it at a reputable uni) Good luck!

Yeah, In my applications I used EY, but WSO's tags were E&Y so I thought I'd use that.
My current Major is Finance and I'm studying it with law. In relation to your comment, are you recommending I do an honours in finance and not bother with a masters? I'm studying at JCU (Australia) which does have a campus in Singapore, so I'm considering to my postgraduate study through JCU there, or would I be better off trying to get an exchange at a partner university (like the Berlin School of Economics and law?)

Yeah, aim towards honours. Doing an exchange during your uni degree is great!
Have you considered transferring to a GO8?
Credits for units do transfer so you wouldn't be delayed for too long, but up to you.
With my degree it's so rigid that I don't have electives, which prevents me from doing an exchange to another university, unless maybe the Singapore campus? I'd have to enquire.
I have considered many times transferring to a GO8, but there is a high amount of costs for me to do so. Is there any real proof that there is an employment discrimination based on where you graduate? If I get this cadetship, I'll probably transfer and complete my degree at UQ seeing as I have to move for it regardless.
My original plan was to do my masters at a GO8 or Ivy league equivalent university to overcome an employment bias.
Employers don't care as long as you're not in Sydney tbh. Also depends on what you're aiming for to.
