I’ve been working in Asset Based Lending (ABL) for the last 5 years. While the job is OK and the pay is decent, I feel like I’m not learning anymore. I spent a few years at a Top 2 bank in the ABL space (BofA/Wells Fargo). Got promoted from Analyst > Associate and switched from the credit/PM side to supporting the Originations team.
Last year I moved over to a smaller, Top 10 bank (think PNC/Truist tier) for a VP role in loan originations (still ABL) for a massive pay raise. I’m killing it in my current role, but I feel like I’m not really learning much. Most of my role is just pitching clients/prospects on ABL, sourcing new deals and sharing market updates and comps.
What would be a good exit from a role like this? I feel like because I’ve been in the industry for 5 years the path forward for me is basically just continuing in a loan originations role.
