Finance/Business Analytics Student Looking for Advice
I am currently a junior at a non-target school majoring in Finance and Business Analytics with a good GPA. My university is decently well known in my area and ranked in the top 200 in the country. Nothing stellar, but my goal one day is to work in IB. I currently have one offer from a large commercial bank (think TD/WF/Citi) as a data analytics intern. However, I'll be working within their marketing division, but I think I can gain a good amount of technical experience and learn more about commercial banking from the internship overall.
From there, I would hope to transition to a more financially oriented role--thinking about corporate finance, treasury, FP&A. I would hope that with all of these experiences, and a lot of networking, I think I would have at least a small shot at getting into IB. What does everyone think? Is this internship and plan for now a good idea? Open to any sort of advice!
others may have more thorough advice but one thing you may want to think about is likelihood of getting a return offer. a lot of people rn are out of jobs/ looking for internships and if you have the opportunity to lock down a gig at a reputable company, I think it’s be wise to take it
