First Job Thoughts...

So I started my first job after college and it's been very mundane. Prestigious Investment Manager working with sales. Haven't learned anything from the work I've been given (Learning a shit ton from reading/setting up calls with ppl all over the firm).

My goal is to get into the PE business and eventually start doing my own deals or start a company of my own.

Should I start applying to jobs externally, have a frank conversation with my manager, or just wait for WFH to end to start really attacking the job/building internal relationships? Very slow rn, very slow

thanks for responding Max - yea totally good point. If I viewed this just as a job to get a paycheck every 2 weeks, I hit the jackpot. But no fuck that need to learn the ropes to make the big bucks down the road

Actually now that I think about it, could it be because you're a first year analyst and they don't want to give you too much responsibly just yet, having a talk with your manager could be useful. If I'm misunderstanding you and the work you're being given just isn't what you expected it to be then it may be good idea to start looking and networking. Again, I'm still in college so take that as you will.
