FLDP at top firm to MBA

Currently in a FLDP at a top tech firm. Curious about how it translates to MBA placements - is it possible to go to a top MBA program from corporate finance at a tech firm? Or would I have to try and switch to corp dev for a few years before applying to MBA, to increase my chances? I've read that it is possible to switch into VC after a substantial number of years at a tech firm - will this improve the chances of landing an M7 school, as opposed to just staying at a tech firm?

Thanks.

Of course - I've already done that. Most people in my program do not exit to MBA because you typically don't need it to advance in the firm (and most tend to stay with the firm). Since that may not be what I want to do, I was curious about how MBA admissions tend to view the skillset picked up in these types of programs (generally speaking) as compared to more typical feeder programs such as ib, consulting, pe, etc. I know it's possible to exit from tech to VC, and was curious about how MBA admissions viewed this as well. If you have any knowledge of that, please let me know.

You might get some better insight if you post in the BSCH section. I've seen some great feedback from posters there but not sure how frequently they check other sections. Sorry wish I could give you some insight but I just don't know :(

If you're referring to HSW, I'm not sure. If you're aiming for M7 then I think you'll be fine. There's a misconception that everyone pre-bschool was a banker or consultant. The class is very diverse in terms of industries people are coming from. It sounds like you are working at a FAANG which is great. I often had the impression that a company's brand carried more weight than the actual role when factored into admissions. I think reality is that someone doing corporate finance at a F100 is more impressive than someone doing ad sales at Google or software sales at Oracle, but admissions likely couldn't tell them apart.

Two guys a few years before me in my F500 defense FLDP went to Harvard right after the program. Granted, they joined the FLDP in 2009 so they were pretty overqualified (one was the valedictorian, the other did a few years volunteer work in Africa before the FLDP) and might have gone into IB or MBB if the market was better. Another guy went to Fuqua 2-3 years after finishing the FLDP.

After HBS one went back to corporate and hit VP at 29-30. The other went to MBB. The guy at Fuqua went to MBB too. So its definitely possible to go to a top business school after a top FLDP- Best to start preparing now, getting a great GMAT, building strong extracurriculars, and ripening a great recommendation letter.
