Have you watched "The Big Short"... you know that scene when Dr. Burry walked out of his office to write down how much the fund was down and one of his employee asked him if they're going to lose their jobs or something? Pretty much the same in terms of atmosphere, but in my case, no one said anything where I was at. I was the newest person there so I was the first one to get let go and this was during mid-day. I felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I have a lot of financial obligations and I felt numb. He told me I can still come in and use the computers but I said no thanks. I shook his hand and even though he was a complete ass hole of a boss, in all my yeas of working in finance... Banks, Broker-dealers, other prop firms... He was the most trader person, I know. Well... He came from the pits, so you know he was just hardcore. Can't believe I'm saying this but I actually miss the guy. One impressive fucking trader. When I got in my car, I teared up and as I was driving home, the first thing I said was, ok, what do I now to secure myself? Immediately file for unemployment, check. Fix my resume, asap, check. Compile a list of agencies and banks and go down the list. How can I minimise cost of living? Lower grocery bills, don't go out, etc. Go get my suits dry clean in case next day interview. I trade... I don't want to fucking work middle office or back office but I swallowed my pride and just went on a rampage applying everything I saw.
