Getting The Most Out Of Trading: Tips and Advice
I recently took a new job at a long only manager that specializes in Asia and EM. They run a few different strategies and are predominantly value focused. I will be on the execution desk that works with different PM teams to transact in those markets, focusing on trading major Asian exchanges but also will eventually trade the European pad too.
I previously worked in the index fund space and wanted to transition to a more active fund so that was the catalyst for the new gig.
Does anyone with execution experience have any insight to how to get the most out of this role. The decision making is predominantly going to made from PMs and our role is to reduce slippage and tca, get ahead of moves in local news and markets etc. I’d like to sit in this role for a while and be a sponge, however a strategist seat or pm role is long run goal to get more responsibility of research and discretionary decisions related to allocating capital.
Looking for some help so I can best tailor this experience to be beneficial for the long run.
