GS Principal Desks
Seen a couple of threads regarding this topic and I thought I should clarify things since most of the threads are outdated. Background, worked at a principal desk (MSI,HY,PSI,PFI) after I converted my summer internship. Worked there for 5 yrs and left after becoming associate,, Let me know if you have any q's
I heard that PSI went through a reorganisation and became GS Growth - do you know how that came about and whether the groups investment mandate has changed?
AFAIK - same investment mandate. The only thing i know about the reorganisation is that it is a part of the "one gs" mantra and that gs growth now sits under equity investing @MBD
Thanks for doing this. How does comp in these groups compare to IB and PE at junior levels? Somewhere in between?
Your make as much as your performance allows you to make, google Ali Meli and read his bloomberg article.
Don't know the salaries for ibd and pe but in my case starting salary was 70k usd and associate 140k usd.
Hi thanks for doing this — I recently started a thread on just this topic to get a better understanding, so great to have someone who knows about them first hand.
Just to start, would you mind just explaining a bit about each of these groups — specifically what the mandate is (check size, part of capital structure, industry focus if any, public v private) and what sort of overlap there is (if any) between them. Do they work together or completely in isolation and could they both look at the same deal in some cases? I personally am quite confused on GS’s principal teams so assuming others are as well. Thanks a lot!
