GSAM & Asset Management Compensation?
Does anyone know the levels of compensation at Goldman Sachs Asset Management? Considering their asset management division holds internal hedge funds like their prominent Global Alpha Fund, and individual multi-manager strategies, does anyone have an idea how their analysts, associates, VPs and up get compensated compared to other hedge funds and alternative investment divisions at other Ibanks such as JP Morgan?
I believe JPM recently overtook Bridgewater Associates as the largest hedge funds by AUM, so that entails some level of prestige. But as I'm looking into going for portfolio management with my CFA, I wanted to know the levels of prestige for asset management within Ibanks.
Thanks!

A good family friend is very senior in deutsche bank asset management:
He lives in $4mm+ home, has a 4-5 luxury vehicles, and is always taking his fam on ridiculous vacations. I would guess his annual income to be in the $1.5-2mm range (?).
However, he is old (just turned 60) and obviously has compounded annual returns in his favor, but I know he has lived this lifestyle for as long as I can remember (15+ years)...
Beyond that, he is one of the nicest guys I know and is exceedingly humble (not sure if that speaks of him or DB Asset Mgmt.) He came from nothing from the midwest and made quite a life for he and his family.

60k base, 15-25k bonus. Add 10-15 every year thereafter.
Not sure at the associate+ level.
hmm...Are you guys sure abt the compensation....Coz I heard that GS AM pays like 200k all in to starters...and is very selective in employing...I think the salary mentioned above is for GS Investment Management or PWM....
My understanding is that they way underpay for how selectively they recruit. The guys they hire are geniuses, and it does not take long for them to figure out how much more the analysts in S&T and IBD are making. I know someone that bounced to a top tier quantitative fund for essentially this reason.
any comments on peg and alpha fund that both fall under this umbrella

Completely depends on the group. Which one are you wondering about in particular?
