GSAM Post Superday Response amidst COVID-19

Background - ~2 years post undergrad experience in hedge fund world, interviewed last Wednesday (03/11) at GSAM. It was a super day w/ 4 in-person 30 minute interviews. Overall thought it went well and am really anxious/excited as I wait for results but still no word from HR/HCM.

Is lateral/experienced hire post superday response time less than 2 days like regular SA or they take their own time?
Assuming there is one more round or follow up calls since its FT, can someone confirm?
I am losing my damn mind, because everybody is WFH due to the COVID-19 outbreak -- will that delay their hiring pace? Anybody within GS- is there a halt in hiring for future planning?
Hoping someone who went through the process -- can relieve my anxiety with some answers. Bottom line, I really want the job -- I feel bad that corona virus is affecting so many people (hope you're safe! :/ ) but it was my dream interview, so unfortunate. Do you think that the fact I haven't heard is a ding? Thanks in advance!

I heard back from HR since I sent them an email - they said “my candidacy is still pending and they will get back to me with next steps when they know more”. Seems very open ended still :/

Definitely frustrating. I’ve had a similar experience.

I had a super day with GS end of March (over zoom) that went very well and communications following indicated that things were moving ahead in a positive direction. I was told they’d have an update for me shortly, but haven’t hear anything more, even after following up. Last communication was 3 weeks ago. I bet things are on hold, which is understandable with all things considered.

Fingers crossed for both of us.

I am in the same boat here as you guys and definitely share the frustration. At least it feels a bit reassuring to know that this is not an isolated issue.

I interviewed as a lateral candidate for an Associate position (not GSAM) and was at the start of April informed that GS would revert with an offer, but no further details on the terms or timing. All communication so far has been via the headhunter that I work with. I have been chasing them on a weekly basis for updates, but it seems that we are still waiting for some "internal processes" to wrap up first...

The headhunter keeps reassuring me that things are fine and that it usually is a long and slow process that is made even longer by the impact from COVID-19. I am obviously concerned about all the uncertainty that COVID-19 has introduced and cannot help but be somewhat concerned whether they will be able to extend an offer at all. Well, guess there is nothing else to do than sit tight and hope for the best. Crossing fingers for you guys as well.

Brief update from here, but note that things could be different for the division / role you are interviewing for.

I spoke to the partner in the team and he confirmed that they still have a hiring freeze for this type of positions. He mentioned that despite things being bad with COVID-19, they are not as bad as they feared when they initially implemented the hiring freeze. So, they expect to resume the process later this year where we left off.

I am no longer anticipating to get a real answer until after the summer, but I guess this is still better than the process being killed.

I feel a little bit more calmer, knowing there are more people because I kept feeling hopeless cause come on, final round response waiting at GS is as nerve wracking as it gets... Also the extended waiting is making me feel less confident about my interview everyday, what if they want to do another interview or the impact is forgotten lol I did touch base with HR and they said super-day feedback was positive, but have to wait and no further updates at this time/ keep them posted if there are any other offers on the table... Idk what they are waiting for, wish they just flat out rejected or gave an offer!

Totally understand that waiting for the final round result makes one very anxious.. In my experience -

  1. Usually GS responds fairly quick in terms of their decision (~1week), so 2 day is still too early to be nervous about even in the pre-COVID period.

  2. If you do not hear back from anyone about the decision after 1week (if you happen to hear back from HR that the firm made a decision to give you an offer, 95% chance it's going to happen), it means either they want to interview other candidates or will pass on you.

  3. COVID can make the process definitely much slower than normal times. Best is to just follow the conventional interview wisdom - send thank you email to interviewers (in between 24-48hrs) and then follow up with HR (after 1~2 weeks).

Hope the best for you.

hey guys! I'm more or less in the same boat. Does anyone have any updates so far?

I had an update call with HR last month - my candidacy is still on the table but it sounds like hiring is on hold for certain groups. They said that they’ll be in touch once things resume. Overall the discussion was positive
