Have 3 weeks to prepare for project finance modelling test. Need help!
To keep it short, I currently work at a boutique predominantly focused on technology. I recently interviewed with a director at a lower BB outside the USA, and he's keen to give me a modelling test to see how well I do.
This BB has a tiny presence here but win significant infrastructure and power deals, predominantly project finance focused. The test is going to be an hour or so long, and focused on infrastructure. He said that for his team, I'll need to know cash flow modelling and DCFs really well. Therefore, I'm guessing I'll get a mixture of project and corporate finance modelling at this job?
My modelling skills are average (unfortunately don't do much at my current shop) and the director made a point that my modelling will need to be really good if I was to join his team. I'm incredibly keen to join this firm, but I need help preparing for this test. Does anybody have anything they could recommend to help me build project finance models? I know a bit about how project finacne differs from corporate finance, but nowhere near enough to translate these skills into a model.
For reference, I have taken a financial modelling course about building DCFs, three-statement modelling, and the usual comps spreading. That's the extent of my knowledge.
Thanks!
Bump
bumping this for ya as well. im not a modeller so couldnt help. good luck tho.
Thanks bud
Project Finance models are pretty complicated. There was/is a website called Corality that had sample models. Hopefully it's not all behind a paywall - a few years ago (last time I looked at a PF model) they had templates available for free.
Thanks TH. I've come across Corality; they're still around but they offer in-house courses that I'm assuming costs thousands of dollars. They've got some webinars that seem free, but aren't in any chronological order. It's better than nothing I suppose.
If anybody has any other recommendations I'd love to hear them. Perhaps a YouTube channel anyone knows of?
