Have you ever been outed from a post on WSO?
Relatively speaking, the world of high finance is small. Have you ever recounted a story on here that bit you in the ass later, i.e. someone figuring out who you were because you were talking shit, or at worst an offer being rescinded?
I saw my coworker looking at this site at work so showed a friend / coworker my profile once. He didn't have an account but laughs were had and we went back to work.
Got called out for a story about someone and redacted it. Didn't think that would matter because I rarely used my account. Now look at me.
Damn, like someone in the office saw what you wrote about them? that blows
Not that level - have avoided anecdotes from my current office and most of my prior internships. Referenced someone in my school based on a habit of theirs and I heard through my friend that he saw it. Wasn't derogatory, but was brought up to me like it was.
Offer rescinded because of a WSO post (Originally Posted: 07/08/2016)
Highly doubt that is why... but it is good to be cognizant of posts and threads on WSO... every bank HR and most bankers are aware of WSO and have accounts on here just to see what is said/shared.
What was the reason they gave you for rescinding?
I agree though. Be careful of anything you post online, you never know who's reading it.
More likely because of OP's sloppy attention to detail.
C'mon man, don't forget your autofills/autologins when creating throwaway accounts...
OP (Voidarch) = Yorickye confirmed
very sorry to hear that. this is the first time i've seen someone post that they were actually told this was the reason their offer was rescinded
Oh shit, I hope employers don't find out about the bootleg Billy Madison DVDs I was selling on Usenet in 1996.
