HELP! BCG and Bain fulltime Associate Consultant offers (Toronto), which one should i take?

Hi All,

I've got offers from both BCG and Bain offices in Toronto for 2019 full-time start.

Which one should I take and why? Please also compare on the options of leaving to PE after two years or getting a sponsored MBA > staying at the firm for a bit > startup / F-500 exit / long-term consultant. Any insights into pay, prestige and culture etc would be great.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

As others have noted, Bain typically places better into PE. Note however, that the 2 firms have different Canadian footprint, staffing models and strengths. A business school colleague of mine spend the summer at Bain, but ended up switching to BCG because he was told to expect 80%+ travel from Bain, mostly for mining / energy projects in remote areas while BCG tries to staff people locally (and has offices in Montreal and Calgary while Bain is Toronto only). The 15-20 hours you spend every week getting to Fort Mac / remote potash mine in Sask, etc makes a HUGE difference as they are added to your workload and the whole thing gets old pretty fast. Both offices are said to have pretty good culture and working hours. Out of college, you may care less about the travel and if that's the case, I would go with whichever firms you liked the people better.
