Help on how to handle the end of your Summer Internship
I was lucky enough to secure a summer associate offer. I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to learn a great deal as I begin my career in banking.
That being said, I like to have contingencies just in case things don’t go so well this summer. For those who went through the process do you have tips on ways to better prepare for the end of the summer. I intend to stay with the firm I am summering with assuming the feeling is mutual and my experience does not change my view of the people or the industry coverage itself. Just in case though, is it wise to casually stay in contact with other banks/bankers during the summer should I decide to switch firms at summer end? The group I will be in is FIG and I am wondering how to handle the discussion to try another group if FIG was not what I thought it was cracked up to be as a Summer Associate.
Also is switching to another firm or even coverage group (within the same firm) as an associate at summer end difficult to impossible?
Any thoughts and or comments are greatly appreciated.
