How difficult is it to get a Consulting interview 1-2 years after B-School (as an IB associate)?

Hello all,

I will be applying to business schools in the Fall '19 season and am facing a slight dilemma. As other MBA hopefuls out there are aware, preparation for recruiting commences way before one actually matriculates as a student. Therefore, it is crucial to have a concrete idea of what one wants to break into for internship/FT positions in order to be in pristine shape when the interview season arrives.

I know for a fact I will really like/love strategy consulting, but for 5+ years I've always been keen to know what life is like in IB and am considering gunning for it instead - out of pure curiosity. If it turns out that I dislike it, would I have an easy time getting interviews at consulting firms? I am not dead-set on MBB - more than happy to explore "Tier-2" opportunities (ATK, OW, LEK, Parthenon, S& etc.). Does anyone know folks who have experienced the same approach/made the lateral?

Thanks in advance.
