How is it living on Campus ? Also, is it worth me transferring.
Ok, I'm really debating on transferring to a schools main campus, but I will have to postpone graduation by a year.
Is it worth it? One is a top 20 school in CS and don't know about Math; the other isn't even ranked( :( ), I would be majoring in Mathematics with Computer Science.
The reason for switch is I don't like driving 45 minutes back and forth between campus and house & I want to see what college life is like :/
How easier do you think my current college is vs the main campus? I heard people say that colleges of same name, but that are not on main campus are much easier...
Does any one have any stories of this being the case?
After looking over the Linear Algebra/ Diff Q test I wouldn't be able to answer 4 of those questions with out reference to old text books

So, questions.
- Should I transfer(would not have to pay for tuition or room and board).
- What is it like to live on campus at your university? (pros/cons please
Living on campus is more fun, you have a lot more opportunities to meet people and get the "college experience." I did it for a year, but moved back home to save $$ on tuition costs. I found myself being more active and going to the gym more while on campus as well since I had more people to go with and it was right on campus.
Don't know about other schools, but UMich Ann Arbor is supposed to be harder than UMich Dearborn/Flint, I would think it's the same for most other universities
1) up to you and if you think it would be worth it, a top 20 CS program sounds awfully nice to me though 2) just moved here a lil bit ago, haven't been doing much because I have no money and I've been studying my ass off but I could try pros: -short walk to school -bitches everywhere -cops seem more lenient here than my hometown -change of scenery -I like this city -late running buses and bars right next to campus
cons: -I'll admit I get a lil homesick, long time friends are still back at home. It's only about 45 minutes away, but I barely see people now -can't really think of much else except for the small amount of additional stress of living on your own
3) see my first sentence... the curve's going to be a lot different 4) I like smaller classes 5) not sure... I was walking around 8 tonight and there were still a good amount of people in central campus 6) AT the school... probably ~10. I do most of my studying in my apartment. 7) on campus... ~10 minute walk to my classes or a short bus ride
Dead serious--if you miss first semester freshman year on-campus living then you might as well forget about it. The vast majority of students make their core friendships within the first few weeks of freshman year on-campus. So since you've already missed this opportunity then I'd say don't waste a year of your life, all else being equal.
+1 on the point made above that most people get to know other people through frosh. I've been on res for my first 2 years and lived off campus ever since. A vast majority of my friends were made through orientation. The rest consist of friends of friends/people in classes/clubs etc etc.
Living on campus still has its advantages ie: bring the bitches back to your place after class etc.
Being close to everything is nice, but from personal experience I was a lot less motivated to go to classes when I lived on res vs living off campus.
As to your question regarding campus activity, there probably isn't some generic answer for every campus. I've heard a lot that my campus has a very large core of commuters, but I've never really felt the lack of activity.
To be honest, I can't really see any cons for living on campus if you can afford it. Some spaces off campus may be nicer but I don't think you'll be straining for space. That being said living with housemates/roommates can be very hit and miss.
