oh god anywhere but McGILL!
Canadian Harvard, that said I don't think it gets the same play in terms of on-campus recruiting.
What difference does it make now, you're already there?
if he's a freshman or sophomore he can transfer to Ivey for year 3
if your looking to get to wallstreet, network with mcgill alumn working in nyc. ive talked to a bunch and if you know your shit they'l help you out
From the highest mountain in Vermont.
This one is difficult; I have made some research about McGill (desautels) and its reputation in the US. It is needless to say that McGill is a v. good university - however one has to understand it is well known in the US for Law and Medecine. Regarding other courses and faculties it may not be as highly regarded as it actually is for Law & Medecine. In fact, you will be competing with people from Ivy League Unis - in this respect I think they will be technically at an advantage compared with you.
Hey man, don't want to derail your thread, but if you"re coming from a Quebec cegep, what kind of "cote R'' did you have to get into Mcgill?
depends on the program. for bcom it should be like 26 or 27 but your guidance counselor could probably tell you the exact number. if you have a 28 or over im 99% youl get in
There is a load of bankers from McGill in NYC / London.
I've noticed that there are quite a few Canadians who completed their analyst stint in Canada, moved on to the U.S for their MBA's and subsequently became associates in NY/Chicago. I guess that's one possible route..hope that helped.
^How are Canadian BBs viewed in NY/SF/Chicago/London?
Wouldn't know, sorry. I only know what I told you.
Fair enough. I gathered that UK BB recruitment is almost non-existent for international students, hence I may have to return to Canada.
If you don't mind me asking, which university do you go to? You can PM it to me if you wish.
I'm assuming you don't hold EU citizenship?
It's not viewed...
i am graduating from mcgill this year and looking for IB and other banking/finance jobs there is some recruiting from top firms but it is really insanely competitive as they take 1 or 2 out of a huge candidate pool.
i am actually curious to know what networking methods you guy suggest !!
cheers
